Twins Eli and Abel live with RYR1 congenital myopathy, which causes significant muscle weakness and affects their mobility. With support from Yorkshire Children’s Charity, their family received an individual grant towards specialist walkers, helping the boys work on their mobility, build confidence and take part more independently in everyday activities.
Noah's story
Noah's story
Noah’s garden was difficult to access with his wheelchair, limiting the time he could spend outdoors with his family. With support from Yorkshire Children’s Charity, his garden was adapted to create a safe, accessible space, giving Noah more opportunities to play, explore and enjoy time outside with his family.
Kelly's story
Kelly's story
Kelly’s mobility is significantly affected by kyphoscoliosis, and she no longer has the strength to move her manual wheelchair independently. With support from Yorkshire Children’s Charity, she received £5,500 towards an electric wheelchair, giving her greater independence to move around school, spend time with friends and make her own choices.
Bradley’s old wheelchair made it difficult for him to enjoy grass, fields and other uneven ground. With support from Yorkshire Children’s Charity, he received an off-road wheelchair that gives him greater freedom to explore, join his friends outdoors and take part in activities such as forest school.
Ayan's story
Ayan's story
Ayan has complex health needs and is unable to walk, but he loves being outside and playing with his friends. An individual grant from Yorkshire Children’s Charity helped his family buy a specialist trike, giving Ayan a way to get outdoors, stay active and join in with the children around him.
Pipworth Primary School
Pipworth Primary School
For many children at Pipworth Primary School, a trip to London was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. In 2025, a grant from Yorkshire Children’s Charity helped the school take its Year 5 pupils to the capital, giving children the chance to experience somewhere many of them may otherwise never have had the opportunity to visit.
