Find Help

Yorkshire Children’s Charity exists to make things better for children and young people across Yorkshire.

We support children living at a disadvantage, whether due to sickness, disability or financial challenges. Our work is practical by design, providing the basics children need today and opportunities that help them feel included, valued and able to learn.

Families can apply for specialist grants for essential equipment and wheelchairs that make daily life easier. We also work with referral partners, including schools, child service professionals and community organisations, to reach those who need support and direct practical help where it is needed most.

Individual grants

If your child needs support because of sickness or disability, our individual grants fund specialist equipment that makes daily life easier and supports their independence.

Wheelchair grants

A suitable wheelchair can transform daily life. We provide specialist grants towards wheelchairs that help children and young people feel more independent, included and able to take part.

Helping Hands grant

Our Helping Hand grants provide practical support when financial challenges make life harder, helping families access the everyday essentials children need to feel comfortable, included and ready to learn.

Schools

We work with primary and secondary schools across Yorkshire to identify need and respond quickly, helping children arrive warm, prepared and more able to take part in school life.

Organisations

We work with charities, community groups and professional partners that support children and families across Yorkshire. Together, we can direct practical support where it is needed most.

Multibank

Through Multibank, donated surplus goods reach families facing financial challenges. Working with trusted community partners, we provide practical essentials such as clothing, toiletries, bedding and household items.

Support Our Work

Bring your time, skills or simply your kindness to help make things better for children across Yorkshire. Whether you’re volunteering as an individual, part of a corporate team or sharing your professional expertise, there are lots of ways to get involved.

Volunteers play a vital role, from supporting our events and programmes to getting hands-on with practical projects that make a real difference to children and communities.

Our volunteers are an extension of our team, and we couldn’t deliver what we do without them. Whether you’re sharing your skills or simply giving your time, we hope you’ll get as much from volunteering with us as you put in.
