School's Out

School’s Out provides free day trips for children aged four to 11, supporting children at a disadvantage, whether it be due to sickness, disability or financial challenges. Working with schools with high pupil premium rates, we give children time away from daily pressures to explore new places, try new activities and enjoy being children.

A much-needed respite for young people and their families

Our children face hardship and challenges, from poverty, violence and abuse to a lack of social inclusion, chronic pain and arduous hospital visits.

Our Schools Out events can’t cure or take away these worries. But they can – and do – provide much-needed respite for young people and their families.

At Yorkshire Children’s Charity, we work closely with our community of schools throughout the year to provide practical, tangible help to children in our region.

Big day Out

Big Day Out
Big Day Out pairs a Yorkshire business with a local primary school to fund and support a trip. Yorkshire Children’s Charity works with both partners to organise the day, while business teams raise the cost and join pupils and teachers on the visit. Trips can be planned for one class or a whole school.

School's Out

School's Out
Trips to places such as Lightwater Valley and Cannon Hall Farm give children the chance to learn, play and spend time with friends outside school. For some, it may be their first visit to a visitor attraction or working farm.

Schools nominate eligible pupils, and we coordinate the practical arrangements for you.

Sports Day

Sports Day
Our 2026 School’s Out Sports Day brought 200 children to Allerton Park for a day in the Yorkshire countryside. Coaches and volunteers led a varied programme of activities, giving children space to be active, try something new and spend time with friends. The day was delivered with support from Julius Baer.

Kids on Bikes

Kids on Bikes
Kids on Bikes gives children from inner-city communities the chance to ride in the Yorkshire countryside, with support suited to different levels of experience.

Launched with Olympic gold medallist Tom Pidcock, the programme ran nine days across three locations in 2024 and reached more than 200 children, many riding in the countryside for the first time.
