This June, Yorkshire CEO Martin Mansell, known for his ultra-distance endurance challenges is taking on a world-record ride for cycling the full 2000m route of the perimeter of England in the fastest time possible.
The Challenge
The route, officially sanctioned by WUCA (World UltraCycling Association), the governing body and certification source for Guinness World Records for endurance cycling, covers the entire English coastline, Welsh and Scottish borders, and starting and ending at the Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire. It is anticipated Martin will aim to cycle back-to-back 200 mile days for around 10 days.
For Martin, it’s a test of resilience and mental toughness, fuelled by purpose and the two charities they’re riding for.

Martin said;
“This is going to be the biggest challenge of my endurance cycling journey so far. What began three years ago as an ambitious ride around the perimeter of Yorkshire has now grown into something far bigger, with the finale spanning the entire 2,000-mile perimeter of England and testing me to my absolute limits, across every type of terrain the country has to offer.
“There’s been a Yorkshire thread running through every challenge I’ve taken on, so it feels only right that the ride starts and finishes in God’s Own Country. Once completed, I’ll ride back into my home city of Leeds before returning to my family in our small West Yorkshire village of Skelmanthorpe – a fitting way to bring the three-year journey full circle.
Riding for these incredible charities, and knowing the difference every mile will make to people’s lives, is what will carry me through the toughest moments.”
Why this Journey Matters
The world record attempt to cycle the full 2,000-mile perimeter of England aims to raise £50,000 for two life-changing, Yorkshire-based charities.
· Yorkshire Children’s Charity, supporting children living with disability and hardship across the region with essential equipment and emergency resources.
· Rob Burrow’s Foundation for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) through Leeds Hospitals Trust, providing expert care, research, and support for people living with MND.
